Lenny Dykstra saved Charlie Sheen’s life

In a New York Post article in 2016, Dykstra recounted the story of how he saved his friend Charlie Sheen’s life. The MLB legend met Sheen while at Promises, a rehab facility in Malibu, and they became friends. In 2014, Dykstra saved Sheen’s life by helping him get off drugs. The Mets legend received a call from Sheen’s fiancee at the time and was told that Sheen had locked himself in a room and was smoking crack for 9 straight days.

Dykstra then made the journey to his friend’s house to help him get off drugs. Sheen’s fiance guided Dykstra to the room and when guards tried to stop him he said “F- -k you, the only way you are going to stop me is to shoot me! You f- -king people are as bad as the drug dealer. So call the cops or shoot me in the back, but I’m going to save my friend’s life.”

Dykstra eventually did save his friend’s life and flushed whatever drugs he had down the toilet. Furthermore, he also stayed at Sheen’s house for a few days to make sure he didn’t buy more. This was a huge act of kindness from the MLB legend.

Why did Charlie Sheen lock himself up and do drugs?

According to Dykstra’s account of the story, Sheen had discovered his HIV at the time and wanted to kill himself. The MLB legend stayed with Sheen for a few days after getting rid of the drugs. During this time, Sheen locked himself up in a room and only ate pizza.
