Have you ever seen a sports feud so wild it makes you do a double-take? Picture this: a MLB legend and a NASCAR champion, both at the top of their games, suddenly trading blows—not on the field or the track, but online, for everyone to see. One’s a Hall of Famer known for his clutch swings and clutch comebacks, the other a reigning race winner famous for his fierce competitiveness and no-holds-barred attitude.
That’s exactly what happened when Chipper Jones called out Joey Logano, the Team Penske driver of NASCAR, after the latter unleashed a rather expletive-laden rant during the 2025 Talladega race. Who knew an Atlanta Braves legend and a NASCAR champion could go viral over racing drama and a baseball cap?
Apparently, he was furious that teammate Austin Cindric called him “stupid” because he let Bubba Wallace Jr. win Stage 2. “Way to go, Austin. Way to go. You dumb f—. Way to f—ing go. What a stupid s—. He just gave it to him. Gave Toyota a stage win. Nice job. Way to go. What a dumbass,” said Logano. Turns out, this outburst caught Chipper’s attention. He didn’t hold back, and on X, he called Logano “selfish,” which set off an unexpected feud between the titans of two different sports.

And Logano did clap back!
He loves me! https://t.co/OANzduGwpT

Logano responded, questioning why a baseball legend is even commenting on NASCAR team strategy. The internet was simply eating up the drama. The tension simmered, but only until Joey Logano’s next big move—quite literally.
After taking the win at Texas Motor Speedway in the Wurth 400, Logano celebrated very casually by throwing on an Atlanta Braves hat. The same team that Chipper has starred with for 19 years. On FOX, Logano went on to call it a “dagger,” a jab in their online back-and-forth. “No, I just thought that was the dagger, you know, the one that won, you know, and that was the last word kind of moment. But no, it ended up alright. It was fun. I guess it was fun, and I hope Chipper’s alright now.”
What’s your perspective on:
Did Logano's Braves hat stunt cross the line, or was it all in good fun?
Have an interesting take?
Well, Chipper was far from done with ending this drama. He quickly responded with “He loves me” on X. Classic Chipper Jones, no apologies, no regrets, just him being him. Also, if you are wondering where Logano got the hat from, he said someone in NASCAR just happened to have it!
MLB legend sparks debate about Roki Sasaki
Now, Jones isn’t just busy in the NASCAR world. He is very much in tune with the baseball world, and he wasn’t holding back talking about Roki Sasaki—the current talk of the town. He gave his hot take on X, writing, “Maybe the guns in the WBC were juiced to increase viewership. Maybe he’s sacrificing stuff for location. Maybe he’s hurting. Who knows…” That tweet opened a lot of floodgates.

A lot of opinions have started forming about the 23-year-old Japanese phenom. After dominating the headlines all off-season and drawing the attention of almost every MLB franchise, Sasaki signed with the Dodgers. Surprising? Well, given that Yu Darvish is his godfather and mentor, it was shocking. However, at the end of the day, almost any player would love LA.
That said, while the hype was unreal, especially because the man blasted 102 mph fastballs in the 2023 World Baseball Classic—his MLB debut—was barely eye-watering. Things have not gone to plan, and his transition has been rocky. In fact, insider Jim Bowden went as far as to ask the Dodgers to reconsider putting Sasaki in the minors if things don’t go to plan. “If he doesn’t handle it well, you can’t be afraid to do one of two things. One option is to send him out to Triple-A. Let him go to the minors. Not under the big lights, and let him figure out how to control and command, add, subtract, and own the strike zone,” Bowden said. And sure, this does make sense because even the most stellar players sometimes do falter under the MLB pressure.
While Dodgers fans might not want it, maybe a little more finesse is needed because his arm talent is fully unleashed.
