The New York Yankees are largely considered to be the most popular team in the sport of baseball. More than a franchise, the Yankees are a luxury brand with the highest-selling merchandise worldwide. The Yankees also have the largest fan base across the globe. Similarly, the New York Mets are yet another iconic representation of New York city’s sporting scene.
However, as the saying goes, ‘to each their own.’ Thus, not every single individual would feel glad to don Yankees’ or Mets’ merchandise. World-renowned actor and People Magazine’s “Sexiest Man Alive 2022” Chris Evans happens to be one of those.

Evans once visited the Good Morning America show on the ABC News network back in 2018. Retired NFL star Michael Strahan was among the hosts. During the interview, Evans got presented with a basket including Yankees and Mets caps. But Evans completely refused to put on any of those.

Therefore, Evans openly denied the gift of the Yankees and also the Mets caps alongside. Upon seeing the caps, Evans thus said, “Sorry, sorry, sorry, I’m from Boston. I don’t want it.”

Thus, speaking in his Bostonian accent, Evans did what he must to stay loyal to his local sporting community. Though it was all a light-hearted reference to the Red Sox vs Yankees rivalry. But the rivalry lives on, nonetheless.
How did the Yankees, Mets, and Red Sox fare in this year’s MLB season?
The Yankees maintained a dominant run in the regular season and stayed on as the zonal rank toppers. Thus, the Yankees entered the postseason with the zonal crown. But a defeat in the league championship series sent them packing. Whereas, the Mets too maintained their dominance until faltering toward the end of the regular season. Following on, a defeat in the wildcard series ended the Mets’ campaign.
