Clayton Kershaw‘s name has been synonymous with the Los Angeles Dodgers. Since his debut in 2008, the player has been with the team in every ups and downs. The star pitcher has contributed a lot to the rise of the team for over a decade, but the latest game things turned out differently. The recent disastrous fall of the team took him to the opposite side of criticism. Fans made him the responsible one for this, calling it “Typical Kershaw October start.”

As the October campaign is on and teams have been fighting for the ultimate goal, the Dodgers looked up to Kershaw to save their day on Saturday. However, this time, the pitcher failed to perform, resulting in a quick and ugly 11-2 loss for the team in the Game 1 of division series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. For a team like the Dodgers, this is quite a humiliating situation in front of a 51,653 audience present last night.

From a Celebrated Pitcher to The “Biggest Choker”

Kershaw slowly took himself off the mound amidst the boos of the audience and proceeded towards the dugout. In utter disappointment, he sat down on the bench and started rubbing his hand through his hair. The upset player was looking down. After a moment, he took a water bottle, and then again, he dived into deep thoughts.

Well, failures are nothing new in his playoff career. He has witnessed several defeats before, and some might haunt him as well, but the latest one surpassed every other. This is probably one of the worse game of his career, with giving up six runs and retiring just one out of eight batters in 35 pitches. The 35-year-old pitcher admitted, “It’s a tough way to start the postseason.” Further, he listed himself as the third pitcher in the playoff history to give at least 6 runs while having not more than one out. Along with that, Kershaw gave up 6 hits.

Only a day back, when the 2020 World Series Champion was asked about his straight 4th start on Saturday, he laughed and answered, “It really messes up my College Football watching.” The scenario was different at that time, and everyone enjoyed it. Within a few hours, this comment also became the target to mock him.
