There are plenty of things to be down about but Texas Rangers shortstop Corey Seager is not one of them. The star slugger was on a victory rampage this postseason, determined to take his team to new heights. The Lone Star State, locked in a heated World Series battle with the Arizona Diamondbacks, won their first-ever championship title. The daring frontman was Corey Seager, the 2023 World Series MVP. Interestingly, while he is an extremely talented player, the slugger ascribes his success to something else.

A few years ago, the shortstop revealed certain key aspects of his game-day routine. “Postseason Corey Seager” has undoubtedly been the ultimate talk of the clubhouse this past October. Baseball fans are interested to know what factors drive his iconic performance and it involves a superstition that has to do with Winston Schmidt.

Corey Seager has an eccentric superstition when it comes to his pre-game routine. The discussion took place during his rookie season with the LA Dodgers. The interviewer asked Seager about something fans don’t know about or tend to have wrong assumptions about him. To this, Seager answered that he pops up his all-time favorite TV sitcom featuring a new girl to mentally prep for the game. Who’s that girl? It’s Jess!

Like the rest of us fanatics, Seager finds Schmidt super hilarious. If he has a game lined up for the following day, the slugger indulges in watching episodes of ‘New Girl’ to amp up his preparation. “That’s my superstition. It gets me locked in.” The marketing associate working in a female-dominated office might not be everyone’s first choice of a favorite. But the often hilarious character provides the desired comic relief for Seager to focus.
