Derek Jeter made his MLB debut with the New York Yankees in 1995. Playing as the shortstop, he stayed on as a Yankees loyalist until retirement in 2014. He went on to be a 14-time All-Star player and five-time World Series champion. Thus, Jeter became an iconic representation of the Yankees. 

Jeter’s selfless dedication and noteworthy contributions got due recognition. Thus, the Yankees retired from his jersey post-retirement. Following on, he got the highest honor of an MLB Hall Of Fame induction in 2020. However, the road to his throne had thorns sticking out, which he had to walk upon.

Speaking in an interview, Jeter once said, “I went to Tampa for rookie ball. I cried every night. With the exception of going to my grandparents’ house in New Jersey, I’d never been away from home. And I was struggling for the first time ever playing baseball. Because now you’re playing with the best in not just the country, but the world. I was completely outmatched.”

Jeter retired with a remarkable career total of 260 home runs, 1311 RBIs, with a .310 batting average. Notably, he also had 3,465 hits to his credit. Post-retirement, he became the CEO and joint owner of the Miami Marlins in 2017. He resigned from administrative duties in 2022 and now spends valuable time with his family.
