Arizona Diamondbacks—a team that had been actively searching for its lost spark throughout this season. Well, they’ve got it now. It’s their All-Star outfielder, whom they extended in a whopping $111 million contract in 2023. However, it wasn’t easy for him to make headlines for being praised by MLB scouts. As it wasn’t too long ago when he was called out for his biggest flaw—his arms. Little did the D-Backs know that he would bounce back stronger than ever.

If you haven’t been able to pick it from the hints, the Diamondbacks’ star outfielder is none other than Corbin Carroll. Yes, he’s the one who has stood out with a major transformation. He’s gone from having a below-average arm to now earning praise from MLB scouts for refining his game.

In Arizona, these injuries have cost them 9 out of 14 games. Amidst the mounting injury woes, Carroll has managed to stay off the injured list and also stood among the top in many MLB categories.

He started getting hyped up just when the league began keeping a close eye on his stellar performance. He picked up the pace early this season and led the franchise in home runs. Not to mention, he managed to hit several extra-base hits, including a league-best four triples.

As of March 11, he had an impressive 21 extra-base hits. And guess what? That’s the second most in the whole sport. And maybe you’re not ready for this: Carroll’s 84 total bases are ranked second only to Yankees’ star Aaron Judge. Carroll has never hit more than 25 home runs in a single season. But, this 2025 season, he’s right on track to hit 43 this year!

Not just scouts, entire MLB betting on Corbin Carroll

You already know how the scouts love Carroll. But, it’s not just them; his outfield performance has caught the attention of the entire major league. Throughout 2024, he went through a rough patch, or you can call it his “sophomore slump“, but 2025 has been kind to him.

His numbers this year are impressive, but he is now also floating around the National League MVP conversation. Yes, you read that right. Buster Olney, an ESPN reporter, recently said that Carroll looks exactly like a perfect MVP candidate in the National League in 2025. Olney believes that Carroll has a real shot this year, and if you think about it, he could really win the title if he stays consistent.

Olney also said of the Diamondbacks’ star, “The way he’s gone back into what he did in the second half last year and built on that.” Indeed, Carroll has impressed the Diamondbacks, fans, analysts, and the whole league. The outfielder holds a slash line of .289/.362/.597 over 38 games this season. While the Diamondbacks faced injury setbacks, Carroll stayed competitive and currently sits with 11 home runs and 28 RBIs.
