Manny Machado’s saga of contract negotiations was not without its twists and turns. First, the baseball phenom opted out of his 10-year contract, which was certainly unexpected. However, the San Diego Padres caught wind of Machado’s intentions and made him an offer for an 11-year contract extension, valued at a staggering $350 million, with no opt-outs and a full no-trade clause. 

With this new deal, Machado will remain under contract with the Padres through the 2033 season, till he’s 41. The bumpy road to landing the deal sure was one heck of a ride!
