When Jeter played the game, he was probably the most chilled-out and disciplined person in the ballparks, regardless of the situation. But was being Derek Jeter an easy job? Well, not many people are aware of this fact; but long before he signed his first professional contract, Jeter had to sign a special contract with his father every year.

Derek Jeter had to sign a contract with his father to pursue his dream
Per an old interview with CBS Sports, former Pinstripes captain, Derek Jeter, opened up about how his father made him sign a contract every year, until he graduated from high school. Notably, just like Jeter, his father also wanted his son to play baseball in the future.
And to make Jeter’s life more disciplined, the future Yankee had to sign a contract that included 18 clauses.

“Every year, from the time he was a kid until he graduated high school, Derek had to sign a contract drawn up by his father. He would be permitted to play baseball only if he complied with all 18 clauses, including “no arguing,” “no alcohol and drugs,” and “respect girls,” said the CBS Sports report from 2005.

When asked what would happen had he violated any clause, Jeter’s reply was simple.
“I didn’t,” Jeter insisted, “I was pretty good. I was always afraid of disappointing my parents.”

Will the Yankees ever find the perfect replacement for Jeter?
Not only Derek Jeter, but it is almost impossible to find the perfect replacement for an individual. But in the Yankees’ case, even after eight years of his retirement, they are nowhere close to finding a similar player to their former leader.
