When Derek Jeter dismissed a Mariah Carey-related rumor 

Derek Jeter and Mariah Carey dated very briefly from 1997 to 1998. They met at a party and their romance soon began. Interestingly, Jeter had the fantasy of marrying Carey, even before meeting her for real. By the time Jeter and Carey had their personal acquaintance, Carey was already married to music executive Tommy Mottola. 

However, Carey was largely unhappy with her marriage to Mottola. So she later thanked Jeter, calling him the ‘catalyst’ who encouraged her to break out of her failed married life. Carey even wrote two songs as a tribute to her eternally memorable romance, Jeter. However, there was a rumor back in the day of Jeter and Carey having got engaged.

In an interview with Jeter in 2004, Playboy Magazine columnist Diane K Shah asked, “The papers also had you practically engaged. Was it that serious?” Jeter replied, saying, “We didn’t date for as long as people think. I’ve heard all kinds of things. But it was really just a few months.”  

In 2012, Jeter began dating supermodel Hannah Davis. They got married in 2016 and have been happily together ever since. The pair has also given birth to three daughters.
