A few weeks ago, the Turn 2 Foundation hosted a celebratory 26th annual dinner. And since it was a big milestone for the former Yankee, Jeter opened up about why it is important to have an off-the-field legacy.
Notably, having spent a better part of his life in New York, the city holds a special place in Jeter’s life.

Derek Jeter and his off-the-field legacy:
Jeter’s father used to practice as a substance abuse counselor before leaving to work full-time for the Turn 2 Foundation. Derek took inspiration from his father and wanted to help people overcome substance abuse. During this year’s annual dinner, the Foundation managed to raise $2 million in a donation to help the kids have a better chance at life.

And when talking about his 0ff-the-field legacy, the former Yankees captain said, “Everybody wants to have legacy on the field but you want to have a legacy off the field,” said Derek Jeter.

Derek Jeter has left an impact on the field that may have led many kids to take inspiration from him. While talking off the field, from his rookie season in 1996 to 2022, he’s continued to make a sizeable impact on society.

Knowing that Jeter could not give enough time to his foundation until he retired from the game, the former Yankee has been extremely active with Turn 2 Foundation after 2014. It has been eight long years since the former Yankee bid farewell to the game, but he continues to win people’s hearts with his notable gesture with his foundation.
