Derek Jeter is one of the most well-known names in baseball. A young talent that went on to win five World Series titles with the New York Yankees, Jeter, is still a beloved name today. It was certainly not a good day for the Bronx fans when the Captain announced his retirement from baseball. The former shortstop took the team to new heights in the time he played for them. But fortunately for fans, Jeter has not given up the sport entirely.

The Hall of Famer recently announced that he will be joining FOX Sports as analyst. Jeter will be joining his frenemy and former teammate Alex Rodriguez on the channel. This fact was the cause of entertainment among fans. It was even reported that FOX asked for Rodriguez’s approval before bringing on Jeter for a pregame show. But in all sincerity, the two former athletes take their roles seriously. In fact, Jeter even had a message to share ahead of Opening Day.

Derek Jeter wishes MLB teams a happy Opening Day

March 30th was an exciting day for baseball fans. Spring training is finally over, the World Baseball Classic is done. That means only one thing – the beginning of the regular season! And while Jeter is not an active player anymore, he still wishes teams well.

The official FOX Sports PR page posted a clip of the former Yankee sharing a message for everyone. “Happy Opening Day 2023. Couldn’t be more excited for the baseball season with FOX Sports. I’ll see you all at the London Series in June,” he said.

Life after retirement isn’t easy for everyone but luckily for Jeter, he has been able to stay connected with his beloved sport. After hanging up his uniform in 2014, the former Yankee has kept himself busy – he was part owner of the MLB team Miami Marlins for a while.
