Mr. November just knows his playoff baseball! Derek Jeter is not just a 5x World Series champion but also a great fortune teller. For real! Sitting with his fellow broadcasters, Derek Jeter has given many predictions and advice this post-season, and quite a few of them have come true. He had advised his former team, the New York Yankees, not to depend on Aaron Judge or the result wouldn’t be desirable. And that’s exactly what happened; the Yanks lost the next game after Jeter’s prediction. And only when the team later showed that ‘team effort’ did they succeed.

Yet again, before the LA Dodgers faced the New York Mets for the Game 5, Jeter had made another prediction. According to him, if the Mets wanted to march forward, the only way was for Pete Alonso to step up and lead the team. And what do you know—Alonso stepped up big time. By now, every player and team should watch Jeter’s pregame show for some subtle hints!

Derek Jeter speaks Mets’ win into existence

“In order for the Mets to move on, you need Pete Alonso to have a big game and get rolling,” were Derek Jeter’s words before Game 5 of the NCLS. And he was right, the Dodgers were just a game away from making it to the World Series. So if the Mets wanted to salvage it—this was it! And Pete Alonso came through for his team.

The New York Mets starter was tagged on the poor outing by the Dodgers pitcher Jack Flaherty. He went for a humongous three-run homer to get that early offense against the LA Dodgers. And this is what helped the Mets secure this crucial win and keep their post-season dreams alive. The Dodgers meanwhile struggled the entire time facing the Mets hitters. A change of momentum at this stage of the game could prove costly for the LA team. But Derek Jeter sure does seem to have a knack for these predictions!

Meanwhile, the Mets still have to win two more games against the Los Angeles Dodgers to advance to the  World Series. But till then this sweet victory sure has sparked an optimism not just in the team but for the fans as well. But while everyone is thanking Pete Alonso for the win, another major reason for their victory may be a pumpkin believe it or not.

Pete Alonso’s playoff pumpkin working its magic!

Pete Alonso was absolutely on fire in Game 5 with the Dodgers. His game wasn’t done with his fourth home run. He finished it with a walk and a single. Talk about making a statement. It’s like his luck shone through. And, well, his lucky charm might indeed be the reason too… the infamous “playoff pumpkin.”

Now Pete Alonso and his wife had found the pumpkin during their visit to the Milwaukee farms late in the regular season. And even since then, it’s been, not just his but his team’s lucky charm. And it must have worked too, because the New York Mets went from potentially missing the playoffs to becoming the biggest story this postseason. And look at them beating the Dodgers, and in a way they did- 12-6 at Game 5!

Alonso talked about his quirky little charm before saying, “It’s the playoff pumpkin. Nothing’s more fall than playoff baseball and pumpkins.” Plus, the pumpkin isn’t the only lucky charm for the Mets this postseason. There is the Jose Iglesias hit song ‘OMG’ to Grimace’s lucky first pitch. Well, of course even good-luck charms need hard work and Pete Alonso sure did put in a lot of it.

Now it remains to see if the pumpkin and well, Alonso can keep up this momentum in Game 6! What do you think? Let us know!
