Derek Jeter’s 26-Year-Old Project Raises $2 Million in its Fight Against a Critical Global Issue

From debuting in the Major League Baseball in 1995, to retiring in 2014, legendary shortstop, Derek Jeter, has achieved a lot. In baseball, he became a legend. But outside of the game, a year after his debut, Jeter, with his father, Dr. Charles Jeter, created the Turn 2 Foundation, to encourage young people to abandon drugs and alcohol, in favor of “Turn 2” healthier lifestyles.

Since then, Jeter has done whatever he could for the people who need help. Youth is the future, and helping them stay on the right path is the least one can do to help the world become a better place for future generations.

After completing 26 years, the Turn2 Foundation has accomplished another big achievement.

How did the foundation achieve that Derek Jeter co-founded?

The baseball legend Derek Jeter has always been passionate about creating a meaningful change in society. He got inspired by his parents, and thus as soon as he thought it was the right time, he co-founded the Turn2 Foundation in 1996.

 Since 1996, 100% of the high school students from the Jeter’s Leaders program graduated and entered college. This year, the foundation completed its 26th year. In this year, annual Turn2 Foundation dinner, it got announced that the non-profit has raised the donation, a total of 2 million dollars.

It is not a small amount, and it definitely can help a lot of kids lead healthy life. But this is just one thing that the shortstop has incorporated to help others. 

What other businesses Jeter has founded over the years?

Aside from non for profit Turn2 Foundation for the kids, The Captain owns a couple of businesses. One of them is the Jeter publishing house, to collaborate with great people from all walks of life to create a diverse collection of intriguing books.

Then came The Player’s Tribune to give athletes a safe place to discuss, recognizing that athletes are frequently concerned about reporters interpreting their remarks.

But these are not the only things that have helped Jeter’s income to become a massive amount of $200 million. He has invested in many businesses, and one of Jeter’s new businesses is the athlete’s apparel, Greatness Wins.
