And while this retired Yankees player may not have any animosity with the team, CC Sabathia is certainly reminiscing on the good times.
Sabathia made it to the major leagues after a sweet introduction to baseball – throwing grapefruits at a folding chair in his grandma’s backyard. A three-sport athlete in high school, Sabathia ultimately chose baseball to devote his attention to. Attending the Major League Baseball youth program, Reviving Baseball in Inner Cities, the teen’s interest in the game only grew from there.
After racking up impressive stats, Sabathia made it to the minor leagues. After stints with the Cleveland Indians and Milwaukee Brewers, the former pitcher ended his career after eleven seasons with the Yankees. And now he’s taking a trip down memory lane.

CC Sabathia hangs out with the Yankees at spring training
Before the 2023 season for baseball rolls around, MLB teams are brushing up on their skills during spring training. As part of the Grapefruit League, the Bronx Bombers are getting in all the practice they can. And recently, Sabathia joined them to lend a hand.

The former pro baseballer put on his uniform one more time as he stepped foot inside the George M. Steinbrenner Field in Tampa, Florida. Joined by former teammates and new players alike, Sabathia posted pictures to his Instagram that showed just how much he was enjoying himself. Aaron Hicks, Luis Severino, Gleyber Torres, Nestor Cortes Jr., and Wandy Peralta are featured in the pictures.

Four years after the ex-Yankee hung up his uniform, fans were dying to see him in pinstripes once again. Not only that, but Sabathia’s former teammates also showered the man with love and appreciation. Aaron Hicks commented, “Big homie always good to see you”, while Gleyber Torres and Luis Severino added strings of emojis.
