The former Yankees captain launched a new media website called The Player’s Tribune in 2014. The platform focuses on first-perspective stories from professional athletes that don’t always get told. And Hannah Jeter wrote her piece on their relationship sometime before the couple was due to have their first daughter.

The supermodel focused on how important it was to own one’s narrative. She wanted to give the pro baseballer’s fans an insight into what he was like off the field, just this once. “We’ve been private for a reason. But I kind of wanted to give maybe his fans, I guess, a little insight into why we did it that way,” she told Sports Illustrated. She went on to say she didn’t want to deal with speculation and rumors and wanted to say something on her own terms.

The Jeters are well aware of the circumstances their kids will grow up in. Their dad’s fame will no doubt affect their upbringing but the parents want it to be a positive thing. Hannah Jeter went on to say in her talk with SI that she was trying to work through their story, figuring out what she wanted to tell her children one day.
