Another year and the weight of being snubbed off the Hall of Fame induction hung heavy on Alex Rodriguez‘s shoulders. For the fourth consecutive year the trip to Cooperstown was canceled. There was no escaping the fact that his journey was looking increasingly uncertain, and the weight of that reality has pressed down on him. However, instead of sulking because of the snub, he’s celebrating those who have gotten the recognition this year. The latest to join is Ichiro Suzuki, the legendary Japanese outfielder, who is officially headed to the Hall of Fame.

At that moment, any other athlete would have been dwelling deep in his thoughts of disappointment. But Rodriguez wasn’t one of them, as he rather focused on the bigger picture. It wasn’t about his name not being called, but about his ex-teammate and legend and the first Japanese plater being inducted into the Hall of Fame!

It was time to honor his extraordinary career, and the way he inspired generations and overcame cultural barriers. The more A-Rod thought about it, the more he realized how significant this moment was, especially when he reminisced about a hilarious incident. Back in 2018, Ichiro got a text from Tom Brady. It was Rodriguez who had passed Ichiro’s number to Tom, but when Ichiro saw the notification from Tom Brady pop up, he absolutely did not have any clue who Tom Brady was.

“Who the f**k is Tom Brady?” he asked his teammates, confused. This story was confirmed by A-Rod, embracing Ichiro. He could have easily let the frustration take over, ranting over his snub. However, the former pro chose a different path, keeping this disappointment aside and found joy in celebrating a fellow legend’s induction.

The two were teammates in the 2012-2013 season on the Yankees, before Ichiro moved on to the Marlins and eventually back to Seattle. But the time they spent in Pinstripes is still a fond memory! For A-Rod, meanwhile, the journey to Cooperstown still seems full of roadblocks.

Alex Rodriguez’s Hall of Fame hurdle: a legacy deprived of recognition

Alex Rodriguez’s PED past still haunts him. Despite having an impressive career, with 696 home runs, 3 MVPs, 14-time All-Star, 10 Silver Slugger awards and many more accolades to his name has earned him the tag of the greatest player of this generation. However, despite his legendary career, his path to Cooperstown has been blocked by controversies in the past.

His association with PEDs (performance-enhancing drugs) has somewhat overshadowed his on-field dominance. Rodriguez’s suspension in 2014 for violating MLB’s drug policy was a pivotal moment that severely impacted his reputation. Despite making a comeback and finishing his career on a high note, the dark stain of violating drug policy has impacted his candidature.

Many fanatics feel his PED usage has tarnished the legitimacy of his achievements. A-Rod’s spot in Cooperstown remains uncertain even though having a career that players dream of. With his legacy under constant scrutiny, many wonder if he will ever be able to fully separate his playing career from the controversies?
