Despite his impressive on-field skills, A-Rod’s bank account took a serious hit thanks to a deal he struck with his ex-wife Cynthia several long years ago. He was shelling out a staggering $115,000 per month in child support since 2008, which amounted to more than $13 million over the course of two decades. But the slugger managed to save himself from the even more financial troubles that came with the divorce.

Even though Alex Rodriguez may have lost more than $13 million in the aftermath of his divorce, the baseball legend’s massive net worth has remained largely unscathed. But how did he manage to save himself from bigger financial troubles despite the hefty price tag of his divorce agreement?

According to sportscasting.com, well, it turns out that the very document that many thought would sink him actually turned out to be his saving grace. Thanks to his savvy legal maneuvering, A-Rod was able to stick to the terms of a prenup the couple had signed a month before their marriage. This helped him avoid any further financial devastation in the wake of his split with Cynthia. But that’s not to say that he emerged unscathed. $13 million is definitely no joke!

In fact, when the two were still engaged, Jennifer Lopez once gave her then-fiance A-Rod a tough ultimatum regarding his messy financial situation with his ex-wife. JLo had made it clear that Rodriguez needed to get his financial issues in order before they could tie the knot. 

Despite being deeply in love at the time, the amount A-Rod was shelling out was enormous. After all, if the two had gotten married, she wasn’t about to let her hard-earned cash go to someone else’s ex.
