Thanks to his post-retirement career in several businesses, has helped him build an empire worth $350 million. Also, because of his immense business skills, he appeared as a guest on the famous reality show Shark Tank. Starting in 2009, the show has helped countless entrepreneurs. However, a teen emerging entrepreneur who came to the show when A-Rod appeared as one of the judges, left all sharks mesmerized. He managed to do so with his hunger to take his business to every corner of the world. The former Yankee then gave him a piece of life-changing advice that had the potential to change the world. 

What did Alex Rodriguez say to the young entrepreneur?

It is often said that the urge to create something generally arises from a person’s desire to address a need they have personally experienced. Such was the case of a seventeen-year-old who came on the show to raise funds for his company, Solemender. It sells freeze-able rollers meant to relieve foot pain, which the owner, Ehan Kamat, created watching his mother in pain. The young entrepreneur was ready to go to long lengths to help people worldwide. Therefore, he was asking for an investment worth $75,000 for his company

For doing so, he was also willing to forego going to college. But this idea was not accepted by any of the sharks, including A-Rod. To encourage him, Rodriguez said, “We used to say the only way out of the hood is to hit home runs or get an education. I really feel that you should be going to college, that is exactly what I would tell my two daughters.”

Even though A-Rod did not make an offer to invest in his company, he made an alternate offer. He said, “I’ll give you my card when you get out of college, please come and let me know what is next.” 

Aside from his own real estate investment firm, A-Rod Corp, the former athlete, has multiple ventures. He has also helped many athletes find the path in their life after getting retired from the game they used to play.
