Despite Record $360 Million Contract, Aaron Judge’s Earnings Pale in Comparison to Shohei Ohtani and Wily New York Mets Duo

After over a month of rumors of going to another team, Al Home Run King, Aaron Judge, re-signed with the Yankees. The contract that he signed, $360 million for nine years, is the largest one ever signed in the history of the New York Yankees. But in the 2022 off-season, Judge fell behind the World Baseball Classic champion, Shohei Ohtani.
Nonetheless, Ohtani wasn’t the only player who was above Judge. Two more players left All Rise behind in terms of earning an Average Annual (AA) salary.

LA Angels’ two-way phenom Shohei Ohtani is coming off a tremendous World Baseball Classic victory representing team Japan. Aside from baseball, Ohtani’s off-field achievements have pushed his endorsement earnings to the highest in MLB’s history. After concluding his agreements, Ohtani will make around $70 million in 2023, according to Sportico’s latest list of the top 10 highest paid MLB players. Needless to say, this is the highest salary for any player in the big league.

After Ohtani comes Max Scherzer of the Mets at projected earnings of $60.3 million. Taking the third position is yet another Mets player, Justin Verlander, with an estimated income of $44.3 million. This makes Big Aaron Judge take the fourth position in earnings for 2023, with a total of $44 million.

One would have thought after signing one of the biggest contracts in the off-season and the Yankees’ history, Aaron Judge would be at the top. But, it does not look like happening.
Who else is in MLB’s top-earning club?
The player following Aaron Judge in the list is none other than the World Baseball Classic runner-up, Angels’ Mike Trout, with projected earnings of $40.5 million.
