The relationship between Alex Rodriguez, and Derek Jeter, has been the one with many stories. Their bond over the years has quite topsy turvy. It has maybe finally reached a point, where they do not hate each other anymore. But it wasn’t always like this.

Three years after the shortstop got retired from Major League Baseball, Jeter, and Alex, sat down together for an interview with CNBC’s Bob Pisani. Therein, they discussed their charity work at the BTIG charity day in 2017.
Even though they came for the interview to discuss charity, they could not block the questions coming to them about their relationship over the years. In the interview, they did not speak about what place they were. But Alex did prove, he knew Derek Jeter enough, to know how to calm down the anger in him.

Can it be said that Alex Rodriguez knows Jeter better than many people?
Months before The Captain, bought the baseball team, Miami Marlins, rumors about the purchase were already in the air. Therefore, Jeter got asked about the same by Pisani. The shortstop was trying to dodge the purchase questions in the nicest way possible. And also was clearly getting angry.

Then came Rodriguez to his rescue, took Pisani’s attention on him, and calmed him down in the smoothest way possible. To divert Pisani’s attention, Rodriguez said, “The fact that Steve has raised over 40 million dollars for this is pretty awesome. It’s a great event, it’s fun, and because of his personality and how great of many is, he always has a great showing.”

Needless to say, Jeter got quite calm after Rodriguez helped him dodge the bullet on questions about the Miami Marlins takeover. However, in August 2017, Jeter did take over as the CEO of Marlins. He owned a 4% share in the team, which he later sold for around $45 million.

When did the rift between Jeter and Rodriguez began?
All the beef between the duo started, when Rodriguez got the biggest contract in the history of MLB at that time. Naturally, he was getting interviewed after the same and got asked about the person he thought could break his record.
