Turns out, commanding a historic $765 million contract doesn’t make you a league-wide top pick. Strange, but unfortunately true. The New York Mets’ star, Juan Soto, was recently snubbed for a Chicago Cubs’ $16.5 million ace. Sure, not so long ago, the doubts around his mega deal were growing loud. The questions around whether he was worth the record-breaking contract were topping headlines. But it’s Juan Soto we’re talking about, who is now being measured against the Cubs’ star. Apparently, he is next in line for a multi-million-dollar contract.
Yes, you picked it up just right. It’s Cubs’ star outfielder Kyle Tucker who is being compared with the man who holds the most expensive contract in MLB history. Speaking of Soto, he recently shut down the doubts about his “slow start” to the season. When he entered Chase Field against the Arizona Diamondbacks for the finale, he contributed to the Mets’ 7-1 win by crushing two soaring home runs.
That’s not it. Against the same team, his same bat answered all the doubts in another matchup against the D-backs, which took place at the beginning of May. Soto, in the sixth inning, hit deep to left center, which marked his first home run at Citi Field since becoming a Met.

Despite all that, when MLB analyst Ryan Dempster was asked to choose between Soto and Tucker for the “best off-season acquisition,” He had a clear choice. He stated, “If you would ask this like, a couple weeks ago, the obvious answer was Kyle Tucker. But Juan Soto sure has started tearing the cover off.”
“This guy has been exactly as advertised.”

He added to conclude his final answer, “I’m gonna go with Kyle Tucker and I like this pickup. This guy has been exactly as advertised.” The 28-year-old Cubs’ outfielder indeed has phenomenal control of the strike zone. He looks exactly like what the Cubs require to add value to the team.
Tucker has undoubtedly been the most hyped player this season. However, as far as Soto is concerned, he is also at his prime right now and living up to the Mets’ high expectations.

The New York Mets (25-14) had a strong April; however, May brought a slow start until they went up against the Chicago Cubs (22-17) on Friday night. It was a stellar show watching Juan Soto and Kyle Tucker go deep.

During the fifth inning, Tucker shot a soaring solo home run that marked his 10th home run of this season. However, Soto wasn’t quiet. He let his bat do the talking against a fierce seven-pitch battle with Taillon.
Soto brought back the 5-run lead to the Mets by crushing a sky-high home run to right-center. With that, Soto marked his 8th home run of this season, out of which 5 were hit by him in just a span of one week. Well, it looks like May has been kind to Soto. He delivered exceptionally recently against the D-Backs and now against the Cubs; he contributed amazingly to the Mets’ 7-2 win.
Overall, the Mets were on fire throughout the game. Francisco Lindor, Brett Baty, and Jeff McNeil got the team an early lead. Baty and McNeil made an impact in the second inning by hitting smashing home runs. Later, Soto concluded 2 for 4 along with 2 RBIs. Tucker initially came off strong in the game; however, it was Soto who had the winning odds stacked up.
