When Anthony Volpe struggled for most of this season, it was Jazz Chisholm Jr. who stepped up in his defense. He reminded fans, “We have to remember he’s only 24.” The Bronx faithful were apparently overly critical of the young shortstop. Yet, Chisholm stood by his side and made it known, “It’s hard to be a New York athlete, but that’s what makes it better.” The opinions are still divided on whether Anthony Volpe should be the Yankees’ shortstop next season or not. In the midst of it all, a viral tweet alleging they’ve unfollowed each other on Instagram has caught fire on social media.

The post was shared by Yankees’ longtime critic @KutterIsKing, claiming that infielders Chisholm Jr. and Volpe have unfollowed each other on Instagram. This post immediately grabbed attention, crossed 500,000 views, and attracted numerous witty replies at the time of writing.

@KutterIsKing also attached two screenshots showing petty searches on both Volpe’s and Chisholm’s profiles.

Now, most importantly, the claim is false. They haven’t actually unfollowed each other. The netizens have gotten the idea that there’s beef, but it turns out the guy @KutterIsKing is just a classic Yankees hater.

Both Volpe and Chisholm Jr. have shared a strong chemistry. Earlier this year, Volpe even expressed how much he admires his teammate. “I feel like he’s just a great teammate. What makes him so good is he brings out the best in the rest of the guys. So it’s just a lot of fun to play with him.

Well, Chisholm Jr. has always been the spark that continuously electrifies the Yankees Clubhouse. Via Gary Phillips, Chisholm Jr. revealed last year that his teammates often introduce him to others like a little brother they’ve always wanted.

Is Jazz Chisholm Jr. the spark the Yankees need, or is it time to trade him?

MLB insider suggests Yankees could trade Chisholm Jr.

Yankees’ 2025 postseason run lasted only one week, with the Blue Jays clinching the American League Division Series with a 5-3 win at Yankee Stadium.

Naturally, some massive changes are incoming after enduring a failed season, as reported by many analysts, including veteran New York reporter Andy Martino.

New York Post’s Joel Sherman suggests that the team could trade two-time All-Star infielder Jazz Chisholm Jr. this winter.

“Be open to trading Jazz Chisholm Jr.,” Sherman suggested. Apparently, Sherman doesn’t see a world where the Yankees can go far with Chisholm. Not to forget, he is a free agent after the 2026 season.

According to Sherman, it’s better to save money to get prospects or the one present. The infielder is eligible for an arbitration extension for the 2026 season.

However, he will hit the free agency market later. The 27-year-old earned an All-Star presence this season. He has recorded a .242/.332/.813 slash line with 31 home runs and 80 RBIs.

There’s no doubt that his power is among the best one can find from a second baseman. However, his defensive lapses and tendency to strike out could make it easier for the Yankees to consider moving on from him.
