Sometimes one gets so used to seeing brilliance that they forget to remember that this isn’t normal. Aaron Boone and the New York Yankees fanbase are going through something similar right now. From Aaron Judge’s extraordinary form to Juan Soto’s unreal consistency, they’re witnessing something that can be compared to historically great partnerships. That was perhaps one of the reasons why Boone was surprised when a streak of Juan Soto was revealed to him.

In a game that was dominated by Alex Verdugo doing Alex Verdugo things, Juan Soto silently had another great performance. The star was on base two times and that marked an interesting situation. Just getting on base one time is a feat in itself but doing it twice consistently is a whole other level. But the real story is that Juan Soto has been doing this for 10 games straight. That’s right, the star has had multiple on-base games 10 times in a row.

“That’s ten – two times? That’s impressive. I didn’t even realize it, Boone said. A reporter pointed out the streak to Aaron Boone during his postgame interview. Initially, it left the Yankees skipper baffled, who asked people to confirm that number for him. Then, he went on to praise Juan Soto and Aaron Judge for their unending brilliance.

“With him and Judgey, what they’re doing is just another level from everyone. And Juan’s ability to get on, over and over again, it’s just such a good at-bat all the time, Boone said. Despite Aaron Judge leapfrogging Soto in the AL MVP race, the Dominican star has been a synonym for consistency. That has had a huge impact on the Bronx Bombers who’ve finally found some balance in their squad.

To do all of that during his walk year is impressive. But it has once again increased worries over his long-term future. After all, just how high will the price of an in-form Juan Soto go?

Juan Soto’s free agency and growing list of suitors

Juan Soto‘s free agency has always interested fans. After all, he’s the player that teams are always on the lookout for. A kind of unique package that we rarely see in baseball. A 25-year-old World Series winner with an unnatural eye for reading pitches. Perhaps that’s why his suitor list goes from the New York Mets to even the Chicago Cubs.

More than that the predictions for his contract have ranged from $500 million to over $600 million. No one knows for sure just how high Juan Soto’s price can fly. And that is something that the New York Yankees will have to deal with. Though hopes for an extension are quite low, if somehow the Yankees can pull it off  – that will certainly be the heist of this century. But as of now, the free agency looks like the more likely scenario.
