Two days ago, Dodgers Nation’s Ava Brand hosted Dodgers Nation Live and asked fans if Kyle Tucker needs a standing ovation to return to his elite form. And Noel Sanchez agreed, letting the fans know that they haven’t known him much yet. On Friday night, fans knew what Kyle Tucker was going through in his first year with the club. So they shifted the mood, agreeing on the social media campaign. This time, the standing ovation was enough to drown out any lingering memories of the boos. And maybe, just maybe, that was the confidence boost Tucker needed to end this questionable home streak.

During Saturday’s day game against the Pittsburgh Pirates, Tucker finally found a breakthrough, scored a run, and helped the Dodgers secure a 4-3 victory. And once he finally got his long-awaited hit, the $240 million star did what he could to address the fans who stood by him through thick and thin.
“They come out and support us every single day,” Tucker said after the game, per Dodgers Nation on X. “They’ve been doing their part in supporting us, and we just try and go out there and win games for them. So, I’m just trying to do my part in that whole thing.”
The last time Tucker recorded a hit while playing at home was on August 2 against the Boston Red Sox. The Dodgers lost 8-4, and they then embarked on a six-game road trip, where the 29-year-old had some good at-bats during the two series in Chicago and Arizona. But after they returned home, Tucker’s dry spell began.
He went hitless against the Kansas City Royals and Milwaukee Brewers. Meanwhile, the Dodgers were struggling as well, going 5-10 during that stretch. The result?
The fans booed Kyle Tucker so much that the right fielder was brought to tears. He was batting .230 in 2026, and what’s worse, that number dropped to .189 at his own home ballpark.
MLB analyst Eric Karros even suggested a reset for Tucker, pointing out that the Dodgers star wasn’t showing elite defensive skills, which further fueled the criticism. That’s why Karros said:
“It’s not ideal, and it’s not working. It’s not just at the plate; it’s out in the field, it’s everywhere.”
Manager Dave Roberts even offered him a rest day, hoping to see some improvement.
But that didn’t help either.
Meanwhile, the team swept the Rockies in Colorado, and the 4x All-Star made some good contact. So, when the Dodgers returned to LA to face the Pirates, the fans decided to be more supportive of their star, agreeing on the social media campaign.
It started with applause in Dodger Stadium during the pregame introductions and went on when Tucker came to the plate or during his defense.
In his first at-bat on Friday in the bottom of the 2nd inning, the fans offered him a standing ovation.
Perhaps that saddened him even more, as Tucker could only draw a walk without recording a hit.
“I wish I would’ve done better this year,” he shared.
But this is not the first time the Dodgers nation supported their stars.
Back in August 2025, they showed similar support for Mookie Betts. And it’s not just fans from Los Angeles.
Philadelphia, too, stood for their star in August 2023, the year when Trea Turner signed with the Phillies. That idea from YouTube content creator The Philly Captain has now become a cultural thing for fans: positive reinforcement. And it worked. Every time.
For Tucker, too, fans didn’t need to wait too long for a result.
During the second game, the two-time Silver Slugger recorded a hit, scored a run, and helped his team secure the series with one game remaining.
“I haven’t had a hit in the last three home games, but I don’t keep up with stats like that,” Kyle Tucker added in the interview.
“I just try and go out there and take the next at-bat and just try and have a good quality at-bat.”
While the worrying 0-for-26 hitless streak at Dodger Stadium has ended, some of the concerns behind his struggles persist.
Can this one hit become the start of a genuine turnaround?
The biggest concern regarding Tucker’s at-bats has been his quality of contact.
Back in 2024, he was slashing .289/.408/.585 with a .993 OPS for the Houston Astros. Then in 2025, he was batting at .266 with a .841 OPS. His numbers this season are the worst since his rookie year, and the way they dipped at home for LA failed to justify his $60 million-per-year salary.
Hence, he was subjected to heavy scrutiny, and an MLB.com analysis from late July noted how the number of barrels he was producing had declined.
The lefty’s production of non-barreled balls was still close to his last season, but he was struggling with the barreled ones. That’s why his slash line in the first four months after joining the Dodgers went down to .239/.334/.376 with just 9 home runs.
Dave Roberts earlier admitted that he was swinging more aggressively than in his earlier years, but his pulled fly-ball rate also dipped. However, it appears that he is emphasizing pitch selection.
Plus, there has been some physical fatigue.
Kyle Tucker and his wife, Samantha, welcomed their first child in March. Being a father, particularly for the first time, isn’t the easiest job in the world, and balancing the MLB schedule alongside fatherhood certainly hasn’t left too much breathing room for the Dodgers star.
But the recent at-bat shows some potential.
Although it doesn’t necessarily erase all the issues, it offers enough hope for the player and his team, and with the Los Angeles Dodgers on their 5-game winning streak, the pressure on Tucker has slightly lessened. But when you’re chasing a three-peat, the Dodgers need him to step up his game and find his form before October.
