After the Nationals series, the Dodgers will be heading to Toronto to face the Blue Jays in a World Series rematch. Although this is just the regular season, the emotions from last year’s World Series are still running high. Just as Max Muncy.

In a recent interview with AM 570 LA Sports, Muncy talked about the series that is taking them to Toronto and how he is feeling about it. Muncy said, “It’ll be exciting for sure… This is where we won. This is where we took care of business… that place holds a special place in your heart forever.”
The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Toronto Blue Jays gave fans a World Series that went all the way to Game 7. The Blue Jays jumped out to a 3-0 lead early in that game, putting the Dodgers under real pressure. But Los Angeles kept finding small ways to stay alive, even when big innings were not coming.
That slow push is what eventually kept them in the fight until the final moments.
“That is where we won. It will always hold a special place in my heart.”

The game itself stayed tight because Toronto kept responding every time the Dodgers made progress. Los Angeles scored through sacrifice flies and chipped away, but the Blue Jays answered right back. It never felt like the Dodgers had full control at any point in the game. And that is what made the final result feel even closer than the score suggested.
Then came Max Muncy, who stepped up in the eighth inning when the Dodgers needed something to change. He hit a solo home run off Trey Yesavage to bring them within one run.
That swing mattered more because Yesavage had already shut them down earlier in the series. And even though others finished the job later, that moment gave the Dodgers a real path back.
Now, when they return to the Rogers Centre, those memories are still fresh for both sides. The players know the crowd will be loud, especially after moments like fans chanting at Shohei Ohtani, saying, “We don’t need you,” for choosing the Dodgers over the Blue Jays.
At the same time, winning there makes it feel like a place that means something more. And that is why the next series between these teams already feels like something worth watching closely.
The Dodgers’ offense is falling short. AGAIN
After seeing that game against the Guardians, it is deja vu all over again for Dodgers fans.
The Los Angeles Dodgers lost to the Guardians 4-2 and scored only 2 runs despite having many runners in scoring positions. They were 2-5 with runners in scoring positions while the Guardians were 4-13. It shows that even though both teams had 9 hits, the hits by the Guardians came at crucial times, and they were able to get those runs on board.
And this is exactly what they did in the 2025 World Series. The team’s OPS fell to .651 from .768 in the regular season, showing a massive decline. They averaged about three runs per nine innings once Game 3 length was adjusted.
Despite leading the National League scoring at 5.09 runs, they could not sustain production in the World Series. Although the Dodgers won the World Series, in hindsight, that was a major weakness that the Dodgers had in the World Series.
Shohei Ohtani hit .316 with three home runs, yet most damage came in Game 3. Outside that game, his OPS dropped to .569. Mookie Betts, Freddie Freeman, and Will Smith combined for a .633 OPS during the World Series.
It was the same story all over again: Betts and Freeman not stepping up to get hits, Ohtani not giving the needed moments, and the pitching doing well. If the Dodgers want to go 3-peat, they can’t afford to have the same problems carry into this season, because at some point, the teams will figure it out.
