The stakes of the World Series are such that players will do everything to increase their chances of winning. Superstitions in sports will drive ballplayers to do anything and Corey Seager is no different. In game 3 when Arizona Diamondbacks’ Corbin Carroll met Dodgers player Mookie Betts, fans immediately called it a bad omen. Why? Because the D-Backs lost to the Texas Rangers 1-3. This time around, it’s the Rangers shortstop being affected.

When it was Corey Seager’s turn to meet his former teammate, he did something unexpected. After all, anything can be a lucky charm or a bad omen.

With the Texas Rangers leading the series 2-1, Corey Seager is doing everything to win game 4 as well. From breaking records to coming through during clutch moments, Seager has done it all. The 2020 World Series winner is hungry to win the title for Texas Rangers, the first in their history. So when Mookie Betts showed up at Chase Field, Seager realized that he could not risk bad luck at this crucial juncture. So he first playfully pushed Betts away from himself and then said “Don’t f*****g touch me”.

Then again, Betts tried to grab his attention but failed during pre-game discussions. The Dodgers slugger was sitting down with the FOX Sports crew for a discussion when they realized Seager was right behind them.

Although they tried to lure him in for a chat, the Rangers shortstop refused to give in.

Well! Seager ultimately scored a homer and Texas won the game by 11-7, so this worked for him after all. Yet Carroll must be resisting his Betts memory in the wake of Arizona’s loss. Still, it cannot be denied that luck is not the only thing that matters. Performance matters as well.

And it cannot be denied that Diamondbacks have been underperforming at home in the past 2 games. Rangers on the other hand have come out flying after the heavy defeat in game 2. This was a big win for them as two of their big players, Adolis Garcia and Max Scherzer, were taken out of the series due to injuries. So the team dominating like this without their stars is a big statement.
