However, a recent gesture from the esteemed Pinstripes organization towards their stalwart has made their fans upset.

It is to be noted that the Yanks have not done anything disrespectful towards their legend, but a section of fans are not okay with the gesture made by the MLB heavyweights.

Fans expressed their discontent after the New York Yankees announced an action figure honoring Derek Jeter

On June 23rd, the Yankees are releasing a special Derek Jeter Captain America bobblehead. This is in celebration of Marvel Superhero Night. Taking to Twitter, the Pinstripes shared the details of the event with their fans. The Yankees said that the first 18,000 fans would be able to receive the bobblehead. This is a new way that they are honoring their former captain. But fans’ reactions have not been great.

In a Tweet, the Yankees said, “Celebrate Marvel Super Hero Night on Friday, June 23 with your very own Derek Jeter Captain America Bobblehead! 1st 18,000 guests will receive a @derekjeter Bobblehead 🎟️👇.” The Yankees even shared an image of the bobblehead for fans to see what it would look like.

The reactions to the bobblehead have been mixed. Some fans are unhappy, saying that it looks nothing like Jeter. Others are excited about it and are looking forward to getting their hands on it.

Some fans condemned the bobblehead, questioning its resemblance to Jeter.

Other fans were just excited about the bobblehead in general. 

This is the reaction that fans expressed on Twitter over two months ahead of the main event. Only time will tell how fans will react if they will actually get to hold the bobblehead in their hands.

Derek Jeter has seen multiple action figures released during and after his career. But none of them have caused quite the divided reactions that this Marvel bobblehead has among fans. The 2020 Hall of Famer is well-loved by fans and supporters, causing his merchandise to be quite popular. It will be interesting to see how his supporters react when they finally see the toy in real life.
