During his career, Barry Bonds earned a poor reputation in the media. This was due to his attitude toward reporters and interviewers. There were many an interview that dripped with tension due to Bonds’ attitude. This was particularly the case when he was accused of steroids. Most recently, a New York Yankees World Series champion detailed getting out of an interview with Bonds at the right time.

Since retiring, the San Francisco Giants legend has implemented a more amiable approach to the media. Bonds has tried his level best to cooperate and maintain a calm demeanor. This Yankees legend had a great interview with him but refrained from asking more questions to avoid angering him.

CC Sabathia and his co-host Ryan Ruocco dodged a bullet!

CC Sabathia and Ryan Ruocco have been doing the R2C2 podcast since 2017. They have had some true legends as guests over the years. Most recently, they interviewed Barry Bonds in what was a great podcast. But Sabathia and Ruocco did not prolong it beyond 30 minutes for fear of angering him. Shortly after Bonds left, they both gushed over how it went. But Sabathia was happy that he did not waste the home run king’s time and anger him.

During the R2C2 podcast, Sabathia said, “You just don’t want to p*ss him off though. You know what I’m saying? Like you want to keep him like in gear, like when he was giving the good answers. So, we got out of there the perfect time, so it’s good.” 

This fear seems to be because of how Bonds’ contentious relationship with the media during his career. Furthermore, Sabathia and Ruocco wanted to respect the Giants legend’s time. During the podcast, Sabathia also remembered his first encounter playing against Bonds.

Sabathia was scared of hitting Barry Bonds!

During the podcast, CC Sabathia recalled his first encounter with Barry Bonds during his playing career. He faced off against the Giants’ legend in the 2004 All-Star game and was afraid of hitting him. During his first encounter with Ken Griffey Jr., another icon of his, he hit him with the pitch. Luckily, it did not go that way with Bonds. Otherwise, this most recent podcast appearance may not have happened.
