Think America vs. Canada, Toronto vs. LA. But this rivalry isn’t just staying on the field. It’s spilling over into music, too. Big names like Drake and Kendrick Lamar are getting involved, turning what could’ve been just a baseball battle into a full-blown clash that’s hitting the charts as well as the diamond. Well, Toronto, home of Drake, hasn’t hosted a World Series game since 1993. On the other side, the Dodgers have a star-studded lineup of celebrity fans, but none bigger than Kendrick Lamar, the 22x Grammy champ who proudly reps his hometown LA. So already, it’s Drake’s Toronto versus Lamar’s Los Angeles.

Reportedly, the two rappers have been going at it musically since April 2024. A feud that actually started back in 2023 when Drake dropped First Person Shooter with J. Cole, claiming that the “big three” of rap were himself, Kendrick, and Cole. Kendrick fired back on Future’s hit Like That, declaring there’s no “big three”—it’s just him.

And the rest, as they say, is history. Now, that same rivalry has spilled over onto the baseball field, with their hometown teams facing off in the World Series. If their music feud is anything to go by, this showdown is going to be wild.

Drake already showed how much he’s pumped up. Let’s see if Lamar comes up with anything before the World Series starts.

Drake and Lamar’s long connection with baseball

No, neither Drake nor Lamar is in the news for the World Series, but they are both passionate baseball fans from long ago.

A proud Toronto fan, he often attends Blue Jays games and showcases his team pride on social media, blending his music persona with his passion for baseball.

In addition to being a fan, Drake has also engaged in branding and promotional efforts connected to the Blue Jays. For instance, he has appeared in promotional content for the team and often incorporates Blue Jays merchandise, such as jerseys and hats, into his music videos and public appearances. Moreover, over the years, Drake has participated in memorable moments, such as throwing ceremonial first pitches at Blue Jays games…

On the other hand, Lamar has a strong cultural and personal connection with the Dodgers.

Through collaborations, social media posts, and public appearances, he links the Dodgers to the Los Angeles hip-hop scene. Thus, helping to amplify the team’s visibility among younger and urban audiences. While he isn’t officially a team ambassador, his presence at games and mentions in public discussions of LA sports cement him as a recognizable supporter.

So, the World Series is also going to be a battle between two biggest sensations as their hometowns are set to clash over the biggest baseball crown.
