The ongoing MLB season is turning into a wild one. From players and fans to even commentators, this game is reaching a new height with each passing day. Ace radio commentator, Don La Greca, lost his cool when a caller said that the veteran host, Michael Kay, made his career.

Notably, Don La Greca is the co-host of ESPN’s Michael Kay Show. But when a baseball fan called during La Greca’s radio show, he seemed pissed about why the New York Yankees keep playing Joey Gallo in their team. Because he is not contributing much to the team compared to the other players.

However, the ESPN Radio host was not ready to accept that Joey Gallo has been hurting the New York Yankees, instead of helping the team from the plate. This debate between the fan (Mike) and Don La Greca turned into a heating one after Mike compared La Greca to Michael Kay.

Don La Greca lost it all on a baseball fan over Joey Gallo and Michael Kay

Earlier this week, when Don La Greca was hosting the ESPN Radio show, a fan angered him by saying that Joey Gallo is hurting the Yankees. Notably, La Greca had backed Gallo earlier in the show. And after hearing La Greca backing Gallo, the fan (Mike) said it was a moronic comment.

“I was originally calling in to talk about the Michael and A-Rod thing. But then, Don, you made, I mean, one of the most moronic comments… It actually proves why you too would fail if Michael Kay is not part of the show,” Mike said.

This comment by Mike triggered La Greca. And that is when the special Don La Greca rant began. First, he asked Mike multiple times to prove how Gallo is hurting the Yankees, and then he ranted over his comparison with Michael Kay.

“You basically said, ‘what I said was something moronic that I have no career without Michael Kay… Stop with your Michael Kay!” La Greca said. “I’m on the air. I worked at The Fan before Michael Kay! I do Rangers games without Michael Kay! 16 years! Doing pre and post games for the Jets! Guess what? No, Michael Kay…”

Is Joey Gallo a problem for the Yankees?

Given his performance in the current season, Gallo is having one of his worst MLB seasons. With only ten home runs from the plate, his batting average is even worse (.168). The only reason his performance is going unnoticed is that the Yankees are winning the games effortlessly.

With 61 wins out of 87 games, the pinstripes are having one of the best seasons in franchise history. However, the Yankees might not tolerate more poor outings from Gallo. What do you think? Should the Yankees drop Gallo for the rest of the season or back him up until he does not come back in his best form?
