Derek Jeter was a baseball star for the entirety of his career. His competitive spirit and winning streak were something that everyone looked forward to seeing. He was the captain of the New York Yankees from 2003-2014 and is considered a legend in the MLB world. After retiring in 2014, he is now a dedicated family man. However, the legendary baseball player once revealed a moment when he felt really nervous and unprepared despite always being prepared before games in his MLB career.

Jeter met Hannah Davis in 2012 through a mutual friend and the two tied the knot in 2016. Soon after, the Jeters announced that Hannah was pregnant with their first child. As of 2023, the couple are now parents to three daughters, aged five, four and one. And looking at the former Yank’s interviews and social media, he’s certainly enjoying fatherhood.

Derek Jeter learned how emotional pregnancy can be

For a new parent, whatever their gender, parenthood is hard. Taking care of a newborn that knows nothing of the world can be difficult and a little intimidating, but before that comes the pregnancy. The former shortstop mentioned how he was learning the ups and downs of pre-parenthood right alongside his wife before the birth of their first child.

When a person is pregnant, the hormones can make them look flushed, and thus, glowing. When Jeter mentioned the same to his wife, however, she didn’t believe him! While speaking to talk show host Jimmy Fallon, who also mentioned it, Jeter said, “You need to tell her that! Every time I say it, she says I’m lying. There are a lot of emotions you deal with when someone’s pregnant. I’m learning that. She didn’t tell me that part.”

When asked about fatherhood, Jeter mentioned how he felt unprepared

While Jeter prided himself in his skill of being prepared at all his games, fatherhood was in an entirely new ballpark. When a reporter asked him if he was prepared to handle being a dad, the retired athlete simply said no!

“You know, I prided myself in my career to be prepared at all games. Any time I’m unprepared, it makes me uncomfortable. I’m unprepared. From everything people have told me, just do it and see what happens,” Jeter had said at his jersey retirement ceremony in 2017.

The event came only a few months after Hannah Jeter had announced her pregnancy and it was quite the year for the former Captain Clutch. Bella Raine Jeter was born in August 2017 to the happy couple.
