The New York Yankees may not be the highest flying franchise in 2023, but they certainly have something to smile about. Despite racking up a losing record to start September, the franchise has made considerable strides after calling up players from their minor league affiliates. Even though called up to test league readiness, the Yankees youngsters have responded with aplomb. One in particular made waves with his hitting in recent game against Houston Astros.

The Yankees traded away some key position players before the September roster expansion including Josh Donaldson and 2021 Golden Glove winner Harrison Bader. While most saw this as the Yankees waving the white flag for the 2023 season, the Pinstripes saw an opportunity. To give their almost big league-ready prospects a run in to test themselves. Safe to say the plan seems to have worked out with Jasson Dominguez in action.

For years now, the Yankees prospects have been the talk of the town. While position players like Anthony Volpe and Oswaldo Peraza have done well in Pinstripes, the hype has been significant around Jasson Dominguez. Dubbed the ‘Martian’ for his other-worldly hitting ability, the youngster is showcasing his full range and wasting no time doing it.

Making his debut in the Yankees’ series against the Houston Astros, Dominguez was up for a test against one of MLB’s fiercest pitching rotations. But he had the response ready and raring to go well before any questions could be raised.

Taking the plate against 2022 Cy Young Winner Justin Verlander, Dominguez got going in just his first game, homering off the ace. The stadium rang out in cheers as the emerging star ensured that the Yankees ran out 6-2 winners on the night on the back of his tone setting initial home run. And it was only strength to strength from there.

Continuing his form, the Dominican Republic player has scored his second major league homer in only his third game in the major leagues. The Bronx faithful seem to have found their next talisman.

Fans React to Crushing Homer

The Yankees were almost at the threat of breaking a 30 year streak of consecutive seasons without a losing record since 1992. Starting September 4 games behind a .500 record, no one expected the Yankees to improve much after letting go of key roster pieces. But with the Yankees youngsters and particularly Jasson Dominguez excelling, the belief is back in the Bronx.

With Dominguez’s crushing hit adding another win to the Yankees’ record they are now only 1 game behind the 0.500 record and the fans are overjoyed with the talismanic hitter.

While the general emotion was an outpouring of appreciation of the young hitter’s talent, there were also some that went beyond.

For any young player making his way to the MLB there will be the doubters, and the fans were happy that Dominguez had kept his away with some key performances.

Others still were just in awe of the ability on the young buck. Going up against one of the most stacked bullpens in the league, Dominguez had achieved a mean feat.
