The Chicago Cubs might be aiming for a bold offseason, but not every move is a masterstroke. While fans dream of game-changing acquisitions, reality has other plans. As the front office eyes another veteran arm, the excitement is met with a collective groan. Because if there’s one thing Chicago doesn’t need, it’s another nostalgia-fueled gamble on fading velocity.

The Cubs have made another move and this time, it is for their pitching rotation. According to Bob Nightengale’s reports, the Cubs are now negotiating with ex-Dodgers pitcher, Lance Lynn. As soon as this news came out, many Cubs fans were unhappy.

One of them was the 670 The Score channel. During their podcast, they discussed how they were not pleased with the news. One of the hosts, Dan Bernstein said, “They don’t need another guy throwing 90, That is a bad fit.”

But the Cubs had no choice. With injuries to Javier Assad, Brandon Birdsell, and Ben Brown, the Cubs had to bring in backup. The fans know the Cubs wanted a backup, but this backup? The frustration is coming because of the decline in his pitching speed. Lance Lynn is now averaging around 90 mph – very slow in MLB.

We all know that Wrigley Field is already hitter-friendly and even the best of the pitchers go for runs. If Lynn comes in and pitches at 90 mph, the balls are bound to disappear into the sky. And with a major injury to his knee, there is no guarantee about his durability, too.

All this resulted in the fans fuming since the news came out.

The Chicago Cubs needed reinforcements, but this feels more like plugging a leaky roof with duct tape. A fading fastball, a hitter’s paradise, and a history of injuries—what could possibly go wrong? Unless Lynn discovers a few extra miles per hour, Wrigley’s outfielders might need binoculars to track all the home runs.

What’s your perspective on:

Is signing Lance Lynn a strategic move or just another nostalgia trip for the Cubs?

Cubs star shows how ready he is for the 2025 Tokyo series

Some players ease into the season—others make a statement before the first pitch is even thrown. As the Cubs gear up for their Tokyo showdown, one star is leaving no doubts about his readiness. With precision, flair, and a touch of theatricality, he’s proving that preparation isn’t just about practice—it’s about making an entrance.

If we thought the Dodgers were the only team with good Japanese players, think again. The Chicago Cubs are bringing their Japanese player, Seiya Suzuki who is literally cutting through balls like it’s butter. We have seen batters practice with a bat but Suzuki was practicing with a samurai sword. That particular video went viral and became a very exciting moment.

With the Tokyo series just days away and many top Japanese players matchup on the cards, it is going to be thrilling to watch. This series has produced so much excitement that even before the spring training is over, fans are waiting outside the stadiums.
