New York Yankees are going, all guns blazing this season. If not for their poor free agency earlier this year, the Pinstripes have been spot on with every move this season. After a dominating first half, the Yankees have started their second half on a low. Notably, they suffered a couple of series sweeps against the Houston Astros and New York Mets. But thanks to their strong first half, the Aaron Boone-led team is still in an excellent position.

After getting Andrew Benintendi, they have a serial hitter on their roster. While playing for the Royals, Benintendi has 39 RBIs with a .320 average in 93 games. After Benintendi’s trade from the Royals, the Yankees’ skipper denied the fact that they have too many good hitters. Because had it been the scenario, they would not have gone for Benintendi.

Notably, Benintendi’s arrival will only strengthen the Yankees roster. And given the chances are high for the Yankees to play the postseason games, Andrew Benintendi might be the X-factor for the Pinstripes.

Talking to the media, Aaron Boone appreciated Benintendi for his hitting capabilities. While he also denied that the Yankees have too many great hitters.

“It’s fake news that we have too many power hitters, too many sluggers. That’s fake, we got savages in the lineup and really good hitters,” Boone said. “Benintendi is a great hitter. Gets on base at a really high clip. Hits from the left side, so, yeah, give you some balance.”

Not just Boone but the Yankees’ star slugger, Aaron Judge, also heaped praise on Andrew Benintendi for his hitting capabilities. Not to forget that Benintendi was the Rookie of the Year runner-up in the 2017 season, while Judge won the same.

“He’s a really good player,” Judge said. “I had a chance to play against him for quite a few years when he was playing over in Boston, and I’ve seen him do a lot of impressive things. … He’ll be definitely a big piece of what we got going on here.”
