The 2025 World Series turned out to be one of the most evenly matched and hard-fought battles we’ve seen in a while. Neither team really pulled away until the very last pitch. But in the end, it was Will Smith’s extra-inning homer, along with that controversial lodged ball ruling from MLB, that helped the Dodgers clinch the championship.

And that caught the eyes of some MMA fighters… “Shout out to the Dodgers, great series this year,” said Terrance McKinney. But guess what, not everyone in the MMA world was impressed, especially with how the Dodgers handled things after the game. Canadian journalist and MMA personality Ariel Helwani, for one, wasn’t having it.
“I thought the Dodgers looked like Jackass. I thought they embarrassed themselves… There was this one clip where they’re mocking the ball being lodged, like you’re mocking it… Then the Kirke Hernandez thing, did you guys? He quoted the famous Conor McGregor UFC 200 and Five interview… But like the setup was just, he fumbled his way through it.” Helwani didn’t mince his words, roasting the Dodgers.

Well, Kike Hernandez dropped a banger after Game 7 and quoted McGregor’s UFC 205 quote. “Everybody’s been asking questions about a dynasty. How bout three in six years? How about a back-to-back? Yes, we’re a mother-effin’ dynasty, baby…I want to take this time to apologize to absolutely f—ing nobody,” Hernandez bluntly said. “The three-time champ does whatever the f— he wants!”
So, while Hernandez’s words are surely R-rated, we think the origin lies in Toronto itself. For the unversed, Blue Jays broadcaster Caleb Joseph took a direct dig at the Dodgers just after Game 7. He said, “A better team did not win the series,” after the game. It took no time for Kike to give it back in his own way, saying, “I’m so happy the better team didn’t win.”

However, typical of Kike, he tried to prove the Dodgers’ dominance in MLB and thus showed they are building a dynasty. Yes, the words carry more flamboyance, but the Dodgers are actually dominating like there’s no tomorrow.
Still, for Helwani, this is disrespectful to the Blue Jays and the entire baseball community. However, considering how the bombs dropped by both the camps in the entire World Series, including cheating allegations against both the Dodgers and Blue Jays, some f-bombs were bound to come from the winner, no matter whether it’s the Jays or the Dodgers.

And guess what, even Shohei Ohtani can’t resist taking a jibe at the Blue Jays superfan Drake. This shows how much bad blood actually boiled between the two teams in the series.
Ohtani also joined the Dodgers bandwagon to hit back at the Jays
At the Dodgers’ victory parade in downtown L.A., Shohei Ohtani didn’t just thank the fans, but he also made it clear he’s already thinking ahead. “I’m already thinking about the third time we’ll do it.” Expected from Ohtani.

But what was not expected from him was his social media post afterward…
Ohtani shared a few photos of the Dodgers parade with a background music of Kendrick Lamar’s “Not Like Us.” Did you get it? Well, if you remember the feud between Drake and Lamar just before the World Series, Ohtani referenced it. So, with the Dodgers just having beaten Toronto in the World Series, it felt like a not-so-subtle jab.
Now, seeing Ohtani, usually known for his humble, good-guy image, throw a playful dig showed just how much intensity there was behind the scenes between the two teams. And as for Ariel Helwani, his take seems to be more about which team carried itself with class. Sure, winning back-to-back World Series titles is massive, but for the Dodgers, that emotional release might’ve just spilled over a bit.
