The New York Yankees of yesteryears are long gone. Once, they held power over the league with how easy they made winning look. But even with a roster chock full of talent, today’s Bronx Bombers are unable to re-establish their fast-fading fame. The worst part is that the management and ownership seem to have no clue what to do about it. They want new names to occupy the front office, and one of them is Derek Jeter.

Owner Hal Steinbrenner even made inane comments back in June about how he was unable to understand the hurt and angry reactions from Bronx fans. He was ‘confused’ as to why fans thought the season was a disaster when they hadn’t even reached the halfway point. But their predictions have held true so far, and even the former captain has a clapback for the Steinbrenner failure.

Derek Jeter Understands the Bronx Better Than Hal Steinbrenner
Playing in a city like New York is no easy task. Baseball may be a part of America’s culture but nowhere is the fanbase more passionate, or intense as some put it, than the Bronx. Yankees’ fans are loyal to a tee when a player or manager deserves it. But if one takes advantage of that faith, they automatically reserve a place for themselves on the Bronx’s blacklist. Hal Steinbrenner currently occupies the number one position along with Brian Cashman and Aaron Boone.

“They are upset. I’m a little confused, this year, being the third week of June, why they’re so upset, but they’re upset and that’s gonna get my attention, of course,” the owner said back in June. Whereas, in a recent interview with The Messenger, Derek Jeter comments on the current Yankees’ season and fans’ reaction to it.

“Fans are critical, you expect it. I mean, they were critical when I played and you know, Yankee fans expect you to win,” the retired captain tells Mike Vulpo. Jeter seems to have hit the nail right on the head because the Pinstripes have done anything but consistently win this season. However, a recent streak of success may save the tail end of the season just yet.

Can the Baby Bombers Save the New York Yankees?
With the veterans a constant disappointment with injuries or slumps, the front office is calling on the Baby Bombers, aka minor leaguers. From Jasson Dominguez to Austin Wells, the Yankees are equipping themselves with all the ammo they can afford.

It seems to have made a change, as the club just swept the reigning World Series champs, Houston Astros. With Aaron Judge back as the leader, the team seems to want the regular season on a good note. Even if it’s highly unlikely they will make it to the postseason.
Who knows? The new era of the Yankees may not spell doom for them after all!
