Baseball has long been an American staple. The nation’s pastime has found its way into all our hearts and, for some of us, has become a rather important piece of our entertainment fix. And while its popularity has been called into question a few times, few can doubt that the sport is loved all over the country. And what higher recognition is there than the highest office in the country recognizing your achievement?

The Houston Astros fought back a dream run from the Philadelphia Phillies in 2022 to take home the pennant. With a six-game series win, the Astros silenced the critics to win it all. And while credit is shared among the team for making it possible, so is the recognition for the win.

The White House’s time honored tradition of hosting victorious sports teams continued as the full roster was pictured in the East Room addressed by President Joe Biden. Team owner Jim Crane and manager Dusty Baker too were with the pennant winning squad of the 2022 World Series.

Many had counted the Astros as favorites to win it all before the season began in 2022. Despite the loss of infielder Carlos Correa in free agency, the Astros had looked formidable. With an offensive lineup featuring catcher Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve and a bullpen rotation led by ace Justin Verlander, the credibility of their claims was only helped along.

And while most fans were glad to see the star manager make his way to the podium, some fans knew there was a way to make it better.

And while most calls on social media were for Baker to find his way into the White House, some thought of it the other way around.
