The Yankees, being an MLB heavyweight, almost always begin a season as World Series favorites. This year, they played as prime contenders and almost appeared on course to clinch the prized trophy.

That was until the Yankees suffered a shattering postseason defeat in the American League Championship series. So to bolster their roster, the Yankees are reportedly trying to acquire the infamous star slugger, Fernando Tatis Jr.

The Yankees’ local rivals, New York Mets, have already turned some heads around in the MLB fraternity. Owned by the billionaire mogul Steve Cohen, the Mets have skyrocketed their payroll to a record $400 million.

A few other franchises have also joined the race in high-profile signings. So, the Yankees are on the course to make a bold move by signing Tatis Jr.

The New York Yankees allegedly making a gamble

The Yankees have already made one of their biggest moves by re-signing the megastar Aaron Judge. So, to further tighten up their screws in the offense department, they are now aiming for Fernando Tatis Jr.

Having entered MLB with the San Diego Padres as a bright prospect, Tatis Jr. rapidly rose to stardom. Within a brief time, Tatis Jr. earned a grand reputation as a powerful slugger and an acrobatic fielder.
