After “Tribal Chiefs,” we have another set of WWE-MLB crossover, making headlines with the same nickname. And the WWE star just applauded this rookie player for his All-Star Game performance in his own “Awesome” way.
The 2025 All-Star Game gave some memorable moments, like the tiebreaker Home Run Derby. But this 23-year-old rookie wowed everyone. He threw nine pitches at speeds over 100 mph in the eighth inning, representing the NL. Known as “The Miz” on the diamond caught the attention of “The Miz” from the ring. And what followed? A great message!
The rookie with all praises is Jacob Misiorowski of the Brewers. And from the ring, it’s none other than former WWE champion, Mizanin. And WWE superstar dropped a playful and appreciative post on his X account. “There’s just something about being really, really good at what you do and being called The Miz.” A clear way to highlight the young pitcher’s talent, combined with the humor that made The Miz a wrestling icon.

The Milwaukee Brewers joined in the fun soon after. They made an Insta collab post with Mizanin’s remark. And Misiorowski later acknowledged the same by reposting it in his story, tagging Mizanin along with their shout-out, with “🤝.“
Misiorowski also chose the song “I Came to Play” by Downstait as his walk-up song on the mound. It was the same song that played as the wrestler came out.
And now, talking about the mound, he gave a great display of his arm in the All-Star Game. In the eighth inning, he threw 18 pitches, half of which were fastballs over 100 mph, with a top speed of 102.3 mph. He also threw a 98.1 mph slider, placing him just behind Aroldis Chapman, who threw 13 such pitches in the 2015 All-Star Game.
Remarkably, he accomplished this as a rookie, entering the game early after only five major league starts. He became the All-Star with the fewest MLB appearances ever to be selected as a replacement. And he loved this experience. “It was fun. It’s a little different than starting. But it was fun.”
What’s your perspective on:
Did Jacob Misiorowski's All-Star performance silence critics, or was his selection still a 'joke'?
Have an interesting take?
But, BTS, it was altogether a different story. Coming as a replacement for Matthew Boyd, that decision got a mixed bag of responses from players and the manager.
From questioned to validated: Misiorowski’s All-Star Game turns heads
There was a lot of talk about his choice for the All-Star Game. Trea Turner, shortstop for the Philadelphia Phillies, called it “a joke”, saying that the All-Star Game isn’t just about who gets the most tickets. Nick Castellanos said that, “Nothing against the Misiorowski kid. But those two… (Cristopher Sánchez and Ranger Suárez) are deserving of being on the team in the first place. There’s no doubt.”

But not everyone questioned. Kyle Schwarber of the Phillies mentioned, “He’s doing a great job… and he’s going to be a perennial All-Star for years to come.” Kershaw, the Dodgers pitcher, also said, “I don’t think it’s conflicting. I think everybody wants the best players here.” Robbie Ray of the Giants exclaimed, “He’s got an electric arm. He’s a special talent and I’m excited to watch him pitch.”

That was an “easy answer” for NL skipper Dave Roberts. He said, “If it brings excitement, attention to our game, then I’m all about it.”
In fact, the baseball Miz, himself addressed all the criticism over the selection and gave a very mature response. “They’re not upset with me.” Schwarber, too, echoed the same sentiment. He pointed out that the Phillies’ attempt to speak up for Sánchez and Suárez “was not an attack at Misiorowski by any means. It’s an honor for him that he’s here, and it should be an honor for him. It’s not his fault that he’s only pitched five games, and he got named.”
Well, Misiorowski’s lightning-fast fastball proved he was a good choice. Even with all the noise, his raw speed proved the right pick and silenced many critics.
