The shortstop had to find a way of not letting things like that affect him. Because all he ever wanted to do was focus on his game. And he could not let anything get inside his head that would affect his game in any way.

What was the tactic that Derek Jeter used?

Aside from not saying anything extra that was required of him, Derek Jeter had simply stopped what newsletters were printed about him. A year after he got retired from Major League Baseball, the former shortstop sat down for an interview with the Hollywood Reporter. There, he talked about how he used to keep negativity out of his life.

“I didn’t want to deal with that when I was playing. I’d tell my family and friends, ‘If you read something or hear something, don’t tell me about it.’ I didn’t want to read negativity,” said Jeter.

Being a human, he also used to get scared whenever he saw his name and scrolled to find the stuff that was written about him. But somehow, he had to find a way to not let get that stuff into his head. So he did exactly that.

Jeter always wanted to keep his personal life separate

The former shortstop has always been known to keep his personal life aside from his professional one. For him, those two lives of his were different and should not have any connection between them.
