Despite his thorough care for his health, he was diagnosed with a life-altering disease a few months ago. Though initially it was a sudden shock, A-Rod took things positively and recently took the oath to save millions of Americans from it.

The former Yankees legend was diagnosed with gum disease during a regular dentist check-up. Gum disease is a common problem that lots of people face. But no one probably ever thought of taking it a step forward and starting a campaign to spread awareness. However, A-Rod is an exception. He even joined forces with a renowned company to start his awareness campaign.

Alex Rodriguez Initiated an Awareness Campaign to Fight Gum Disease

In June 2023, an Instagram post by A-Rod showcased how his dental problem emerged. The commendable part is that he didn’t take it lightly, like others would do. Instead, he shared a video about the symptoms and treatments to make fans aware of them. Incidentally, he didn’t stop there, as his motto was to save the millions of Americans who suffer from the gum problem. As he revealed during his segment with CBS News, “And the dentist tells me the news, and then I come to find out over 65 million Americans have this gum disease.

This target is challenging for him alone, so he joined forces with a $420 billion brand, Johnson & Johnson, to promote their ‘Cover Your Bases’ gum disease awareness campaign. OraPharma, a vertical of J&J, hired him as their brand ambassador to promote Arestin, a new antibiotic that helps one keep gum disease in check. After this news resurfaced recently, the GM of the company said their aim is to make people aware of dental health.

Taking things a step further to talk about his OraPharma campaign, Alex zeroed in on a renowned platform to talk about the issue. Despite his busy MLB postseason schedule, his segment is scheduled on “The Jennifer Hudson Show” to talk about the awareness campaign.

The upcoming week brings back ‘The Jennifer Hudson Show’ with an exciting roster of celebrities and plenty of unexpected moments. JHud alongside prominent figures from the realms of sports, music, and beyond from October 9 to October 13, are lined up to appear on the show. Rodriguez is expected to make an appearance on Oct. 13th with a tagline, “Alex Rodriguezfrom the Minnesota Timberwolves chats about OraPharma.”

Zooming in more on his personal life, while suffering from his life-altering gum disease, A-Rod always had his girlfriend as his support.

A-Rod Praised His Girlfriend For Training Him For The Fight

Having a supportive partner is always a blessing, and A-Rod is fortunate to have one. While dealing with gum disease, the former MLB star expressed gratitude to his girlfriend for her support in an interview. He expressed that Jaclyn Cordeiro used to help him with his training. He showered praise on her for constant support.

The legend expressed, “She has her Jac Fit thing, which is on fire.” However, A-Rod passed the time and is now trying to help others do the same through his awareness messages.
