Fenway Park had all the makings of a pressure cooker on Tuesday night. Emotions were bubbling. Tempers were boiling. And by the time the third inning came, the lid just blew off. Boston Red Sox starter Walker Buehler got tossed out of the game after a heated exchange with the home plate umpire, Mike Estabrook. And right after, Manager Alex Cora came in charging to defend his pitcher. And boom—even he got ejected.

But really, it was not Estabrook who stirred the pot alone. A certain someone at second base, aka Francisco Lindor, decided to add some spice to the mix. Yelling, ‘throw him out,’ he asked the ump to throw both the player and the manager out, and everyone witnessed that happen.

It was, of course, loud and bold, and fans were immediately asking – if this was the start of another major baseball beef? Well, turns out it wasn’t.

Because Cora revealed that he and Lindor, the very next morning, were not trading jabs but laughs over the incident at breakfast. Just two guys from Puerto Rico, sharing a meal and leaving all the drama behind.

Cora, almost bursting with laughter, said on WEEI Afternoons, “I saw the clip of him saying that. He didn’t bring it up, but hey—it’s all fun and games. In this sport, you’re allowed to show emotion. I had to protect my guy. It stung in the moment, but our bullpen? They slammed the door shut. We won.” 

And well, the Boston Red Sox bullpen really carried it well even after Buehler got evicted. They combined for 6.2 innings of shutout dominance. Even Buehler got in on the joke, posting that, “I wouldn’t want me out there either… the bullpen’s full of f—ing animals,” referring to Lindor shouting to throw them out.

Buehler, though, did go on to apologize for his behavior later. So no, there seems to be no big feud there—just a flash of fire in a game that had high stakes. But it is funny; one day it’s war cries, and the next morning—eggs and jokes!

However, while the Lindor vs. Red Sox drama has cooled over coffee, a new storyline has fired up. And it’s a big one—like nearly a billion dollars big!

The New York Mets walked into Boston hoping that they would at least salvage a win from their three-game skid. But through two games, they managed one run. This is no drill; they really managed just one run. And while the blame doesn’t fall on just one player, one name, as expected, stands right in the eye of the storm—Juan Soto.

The man with the biggest contract in sports history is still lost and searching for that swing.
