The year is about to end, and the National Baseball Hall of Fame has a new inductee. The former ball player Fred McGriff became part of the 1% of the ballplayers who get inducted into Cooperstown. His induction had his fellow Hall of Famer Derek Jeter congratulate him for the incredible feat. Nevertheless, getting into Cooperstown is unarguably the highest honor for any baseball player. McGriff is now one of those 268 players who have gotten instated into the Hall of Fame.

With the latest addition of McGriff into Cooperstown, Jeter’s company got increased even more. Already being a part of the exclusive club, Jeter knows what an achievement it is and what it feels like. But McGriff’s unanimous induction had once again left Alex Rodriguez out of the race.

Derek Jeter congratulated the latest addition of HOF, called it a well-deserving honor

Fred McGriff got eligible for the election into Cooperstown in 2010. And his wait finally got over. CBEPC (Contemporary Baseball Era Players Committee), a team of 16 members unanimously voted for McGriff to get instated. Therefore, like many others, Derek Jeter congratulated McGriff for the incredible feat.

CBEPC selects players for HOF who are no longer eligible to get instated by the Baseball Writers’ Association of America (BBWAA). This year, along with McGriff, many other players also got considered for the same. They were Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Alex Rodriguez, and others.

If it wasn’t for A-Rod’s alleged steroid use, and connection to the Biogenesis scandal, he would have gotten inducted in his first year of eligibility. But his PEDs usage has since put a major dent in his career. Therefore, the numbers he put up, and thus, his records, are considered tainted.

When will BBWAA announce the rest of the Hall of Fame inductees?

The Association is set to announce the rest of the inductees of the HOF Class of 2023 on January 24, 2023. The list of players who would be appearing on the ballot got released on November 21, 2022.
