Baseball runs deep in the Freeman family! From the huge swings and great defense of an MLB superstar to the growing love of the next generation. The love for the diamond goes well beyond the dazzling lights of Dodger Stadium. It can be seen most clearly on the Little League fields, where aspirations are nourished and childhood successes are enjoyed.
It’s hard not to find it cute when a kid copies their idol, especially if that hero is their dad, a real-life legend in the game – Freddie Freeman. And when the proudest mom in the stands talks about those times, it’s a home run for everyone watching.
Recently, the digital world got a very cute look at this, which shows that certain apples don’t fall far from the tree. That is especially true when that tree is an MVP first baseman. Born in 2016, Charlie has been a big baseball fan since he was a little kid. The love for the diamond is very much evident. Freddie Freeman and her wife signed him up for Little League, where he’s been working on his talents and learning the basics of the game.

Freeman’s wife shares all the cherished moments on her Instagram account. One such moment caught everyone’s eyes, and all they could say was “father like son.” She took it to Instagram to celebrate Charlie’s summer league team’s win. The caption said, “Memorial Day Champions!!! 🇺🇸🏆” and there were pictures of Charlie with his championship trophy and ring, with his grandfather, and with his teammates celebrating.
The pictures showed how happy and proud a little kid was to follow in his father’s footsteps with the help of a loving family.

This latest win is simply one more bright indication of how much better Charlie is getting at baseball and how much his family supports him.
Charlie has been in the spotlight before. He got the distinction of throwing the ceremonial first pitch on April 11, when Freddie Freeman’s bobblehead night was at Dodger Stadium. Charlie threw the ball with confidence, and fans loved it. It instantly went viral. Chelsea posted pictures from the night on Instagram. It was a celebration of Freddie’s famous walk-off grand slam in the 2024 World Series, making it a night for the whole Freeman family to remember.

Outside of baseball, the Freemans are recognized for being a close-knit family and being active in their community. Chelsea has been a huge help to her husband in his career and in parenting their three sons, Charlie, Brandon, and Maximus.
Moreover, she is particularly dedicated to children’s health care and the family’s devotion to giving back to the community. Recently, they did a great act that is just appreciable.
Champions on and off the field
Freddie Freeman and his wife, Chelsea, donated $1 million to the Children’s Hospital of Orange County (CHOC), which was very important to their family. Last year, their youngest son, Maximus, was hospitalized there after being diagnosed with Guillain-Barre syndrome, a rare neurological illness. The Freemans’ generous gift is meant to help the hospital give great care to kids and their families.

Freeman told ESPN, “Seeing every room full in the PICU each and every day impacted Chelsea and I deeply. Getting to know the doctors, nurses and care teams and seeing how they show up each day to bring healing and hope to kids and their families was inspiring. CHOC saved Maximus’ life.”

Maximus, who turned four in February, got sick last July after visiting the MLB All-Star Game in Texas with his family. The Dodgers placed Freeman on leave after he was hospitalized later that month. Max was resilient despite the obstacles.
Chelsea noted, “These have been the hardest and scariest days of our lives. Maximus is such a special boy and he has been fighting SO hard. This is going to be a journey to recover, but we have faith that he will be completely healed. We have been blown away by his improvements in the last 48 hours. Maximus was extubated from his breathing tube and taken off of the ventilator yesterday, which is a huge win for us.”
But everything got better, and he was discharged from the hospital. Freeman came back to the field, and what a mind-blowing performance came from his bat. He played great in the 2024 World Series against the New York Yankees, going 6-for-20 with four home runs and 12 RBIs, including a walk-off grand slam in Game 1 that won the game. His hard work won him the World Series MVP award.
