If there is one word to describe Game 5 of the World Series, it would be—OMG! Because how does a team go from getting a lead of 5-0 and then losing the game? This isn’t a twisty plot of a Hollywood movie, but a reality for the New York Yankees. With the series hanging by a thread, the Yankees gave it their all at first. Aaron Judge and Jazz Chisolm Jr. heated things in the Bronx, with back-to-back homers off Jack Flaherty. Then Alex Verdugo chipped in with an RBI and a single, and Giancarlo Stanton’s solo made them look at a 5-0 lead.

The Yankees looked unstoppable! But the Dodgers had other plans. They clawed their way back into the game. It was a comeback of the ages! And then the final game finished with the Dodgers leading 7-6 and sealing their eighth World Series title. Post-game, even Derek Jeter, who hardly speaks ill for the New York Yankees, couldn’t defend what unfolded. It was a night for the history books, but not the Yankees had hoped for.

The Dodgers may have been behind 5-0, but giving up wasn’t on their cards. By the eight, they were still down a run, and then Mookie Betts stepped up with a sacrifice fly, and that sealed a historic 7-6 comeback and with it also the coveted World Series title. But the Yankees’s loss didn’t happen all of a sudden. A series of mistakes helped the Dodgers on their way to glory. From Judge Volpe, everyone choked! Alex Rodriguez and Derek Jeter, both former Yankee legends, couldn’t defend their team.
In the FOX post-game show, the Yankee legends were in utter disbelief. Derek Jeter has always been a cool-headed captain, but he was appalled by what he saw. “I don’t know if I’ve ever quite seen an inning like this, especially in a World Series or postseason game. The Yankees made some mistakes. You cannot make mistakes against a team like the Dodgers. In that particular inning, they gave them six outs,” said Derek Jeter on the broadcast. And Alex Rodriguez was even harsher!

Alex Rodriguez, like the nearly 50,000 people in attendance, couldn’t believe what unraveled. The New York Yankees looked like they were geared up for Game 6. “This is one of the greatest meltdowns that I’ve ever seen in 40 years,” Rodriguez said, and where is the lie?

Yankee’s fifth-inning mishap is confusing for most
Was Aaron Boone even awake when the Yankee world started crumbling in Game 5 of the World? This is the question that a Yankees fan would ask for sure! Because the game started strong with Gerritt Cole in control. But then, just as quickly things looked up for the men in pinstripes, it fell apart as quickly too in just one inning. First Aaron Judge, let a shallow fly ball off Tommy Edman’s bat slip past him. But that was not all!

Then, Anthony Volpe botched a throw to third. And then mistakes kept piling! Mookie Betts hit a slow grounder to Anthony Rizzo. Cole needed to cover first base, but he fell short and watched Betts clinched that run. Then the LA Dodgers went haywire when they smelled blood. Freeman and Hernandez hit back-to-back doubles, and, like that, the Yankees lost their stunning lead. And through all of it, Boone was cool as a cucumber! He didn’t come out of the dugout to cheer up the morale of this team. But why?
