Almost everyone has given their take on Juan Soto’s rejection of $760 million to wear pinstripes and head to the New York Mets. From deeming it shocking to quoting his pay outrageous, it’s all been done and dusted. Yet, amidst it all, one group has been rather silent—the New York Yankees. Soto’s former teammates haven’t expressed how they felt about this rejection. The only word that came was from Soto himself.

Juan Soto recently revealed that he didn’t get in touch with his former teammates. The reason? Well, he changed his number due to excessive calls during the off-season. So he couldn’t contact anyone. However, it doesn’t take a genius to figure out it would be a bummer for Soto’s teammates. They formed a rapport with him. However, a glimpse of what the team feels was recently captured as Giancarlo Stanton was caught assuring young fans that it’s going to be okay even without Soto.

Juan Soto breaks Giancarlo Stanton’s trust

Giancarlo Stanton is one player on the Yankee side who has openly expressed how much he wants Juan Soto back on the team. He had said before, “We need him to stay. He’s going to stay.” Stanton, for sure, was confident. He and Juan Soto were a power duo in the postseason run for the Yankees. But alas, his belief, of course, came crashing down when Soto signed with the Mets. However, while he may be heartbroken, he didn’t let it show when a young fan in MLB’s Play Ball clinic in Puerto Rico asked, “Are you sad that Soto is on the Mets?”

Stanton instead responded with optimism and said, “You wish he was with us. Are you sad because he went to the Mets? We’ll be fine.” Also, stress on the word mad. It might be him telling his outlook on the situation, and it wouldn’t be a surprise because Stanton did want Juan Soto in the Yankees.

Giancarlo Stanton is 35, and of course, he is looking forward to what’s next with the Yankees. He played 114 last season, his most since 2021. He contributed on a high level, and hence, his message is clear: with or without Soto, they are ready to compete. And the Yankees are surely doing a lot, from signing Max Fried to getting coveted Cody Bellinger.

Fans didn’t take long to find a connection Bellinger already had with the Yankees. Well, the former Chicago Cubs outfielder’s wife, Chase Carter, has a past with Giancarlo Stanton! There were rumors on social media that Carter had been in contact with Bellinger when she was with Giancarlo Stanton. But well, Carter said, she first connected with Bellinger in 2017 but was just “pen pals” then and met in person only in 2020, long after her relationship with Stanton got over.

“True love story: I followed him; he followed me back,” Cater had joked about her first interaction with Cody Bellinger. They went public with their romance in 2020 and then welcomed two daughters. They got engaged in 2023 and even had a quiet wedding the same year. Now the couple is happily married, and surely Carter is more than thrilled with Bellinger getting to wear pinstripes. After all, it’s a full-circle moment for Cody, given his father was a 2x WS Yankee winner.
