Is Big G finally making a comeback? The former All-Star MVP has long regaled fans with his power hitting, having led the NL twice on the home run chart. Now in the AL East, Giancarlo Stanton has matched-up up with New York Yankees captain, Aaron Judge. However, 2023 ruined all plans.

Plagued by injuries, Judge and Stanton have struggled throughout the season. Although the sluggers are back from the IL, they have yet to satisfy fans with any good plays. The lineup with and without the captain shows startling differences, so his presence is expected to cheer them up. It also seems to have had some positive effect on Big G, who was expected to pick up the slack in Judge’s absence.

Giancarlo Stanton Homers For Third Straight Game

Things are finally heating. In their second game of a four-game series, the Yankees faced the Houston Astros. Although the first game saw them claim a surprising victory against the reigning World Series champs, things turned around the next night. The Astros clinched a 7-3 victory, highlighting their lack of offensive power yet again.

Even so, Stanton smashed another long ball, a 116.7 MPH solo HR to left field off of the Astros’ Rafael Montero. It was the first instance this season, and the 23rd overall, that Big G achieved the feat of hitting home runs three games in a row. In a career-worst season, it was a big highlight.

And Stanton understands that while there have been struggles with putting up numbers in 2023, he is focused on getting through each night. “Those [things] don’t really matter,” the outfielder said. “The struggles of months ago, weeks ago, right now it’s just about how I can help us win each night…I’m having good at-bats, not-so-good at-bats. So, a little back-and-forth but the point is to try to be productive.”

However, fans are still not impressed.

New York Yankees Fans Remain Nonchalant

Big G’s night might have been productive, but the Yankees still have a long way to go. Judge could serve as the designated hitter, potentially adding some offensive power to the team. Because despite the home runs, the Bronx Bombers still lost.

But most couldn’t stand how unmotivated the team seems.

There are still two games left, for which fans can only wish to see better moves. Stanton seems to get back to his old form, which will hopefully add some much-needed offense to the lineup.

The Astros and the Yankees return on August 5th at 1.05 pm EDT.
