The trade-offs included top players like Giancarlo Stanton, Marcell Ozuna, Dee Strange-Gordon, and Christian Yelich. Stanton was the reigning National League MVP at that time. Much against his wishes, Stanton got sent to the Yankees by Jeter. However, Stanton didn’t step back from hitting out at Jeter.

Writing out to Jeter, Stanton stated, “This is not going to go how you guys think it will go. I’ve put up with enough here. Derek, I know you don’t fully understand where I’m coming from. But Mike does. He’s been here. He can fill you in. This may not go exactly how I planned. But it’s definitely not going to go how you have planned.”
