Ever since Matt Chapman signed as a free agent with the San Francisco Giants, the fanbase could not be more enamored of him. What started as a three-year, $54 million contract in March, ahead of the 2024 season, became a six-year, $151 million contract extension in September. Now that he will be in San Fran through 2030, fans might look forward to more of his antics and challenge him to more hilarious contests, as a few fans did recently!

During the FanFest tour, Chapman pleased fans with more than just his baseball skills. With this tour, which is set to hit San Jose and Sacramento on Jan. 25 and Feb. 1, respectively, the San Francisco Giants have sought to bring the team closer to their community by traversing local neighborhoods, such as Napa, San Jose, and Sacramento, just to name a few. Among the stops included in their previous visit to Napa, were the opportunities presented to fans: to mingle freely with their stars.

When it came to Chapman, enthusiastic fans presented him with a glass of beer to see who could chug it down quicker. It wasn’t even a close race as the Giants star chugged it down in less than 6 seconds. As the crowd around them roared, “Chug! Chug! Chug!” the challengers were left staring at the player as he beat them by a huge margin!

Talk about an unknown off-field talent. On the diamond as well, Chapman was a much-needed presence as he batted for a.247 average, hit 27 home runs, and notched 78 RBIs while bringing a.790 OPS. The season also brought him his fifth Gold Glove award, and no wonder Buster Posey wanted him to stay in the valley.

And Giants fans know exactly how valuable Matt Chapman is, as a bizarre signing recently proved!

Matt Champan continues to meet furry friends

Baseballs, notebooks, hats, various body parts, trade items, maybe even clothes – what are all the objects you might usually get a celebrity sign on? These items and more, perhaps, but at a recent event on the FanFest tour, a Giants fan took the cake as they brought in their dog. As the crowd chanted, “Go, Ralphie!”, Matt Chapman and Erik Miller signed the very cute furry animal’s very cute Giants vest.

“What’s the weirdest thing you’ve ever autographed?” asked the caption on the team’s X post. There is no better answer than a doggo’s vest! It might have been an especially sweet case for Chapman, who has a dog of his own, Harley, who often accompanies him to practice at Oracle Park.

Last May, Harley even interrupted the Phillies’ in-field work when they were playing the Giants and it was the highlight of the warmup session! The golden retriever puppy made his debut at Oracle Park last April and is even seen playing catch with his hooman sometimes. Really, there’s an endless list of reasons as for why fans love having Matt Chapman around!
